Referral Specialist (Georgetown)
Performs duties clerical in nature under direction of Referral Specialist Manager in processing referrals to promote coordination of patient care. Under general supervision, makes interpretations and exercises some discretion in routine situations.



Administrative:






+ Receive and process specialty referral orders from LSCC Providers using the electronic health record system (NextGen EHR) and referral management system (LeadingReach) ensuring timely coordination of specialty care for LSCC patients Type in daily duties


+ Obtain all necessary information via the patient record to ensure efficient processing of referrals


+ Document all referral processing steps throughout multiple stages, patient and coordination interactions using the electronic health record system (NextGen EHR)


+ All other duties as assigned






Customer Service:






+ Provide exceptional customer service and problem-solving techniques in an attempt to further the patient's overall health and well-being via specialty care referrals


+ Explain referral processes and procedures to patients


+ Coordinate with multiple insurance carriers to obtain necessary authorizations and pre-certifications for patients to receive necessary services


+ Coordinate patient care with multiple service lines to ensure recommended treatment plans are initialized and followed through


+ Establish and maintain effective working relationships with specialty service lines to facilitate acceptance of uninsured patients






AIDET-LOC:






+ Staff Members and Directors shall deal with patients, providers, colleagues, and other internal and external LSCC contacts honestly, professionally and with empathy, following the principles of AIDET (Skill at a Glance) and the Language of Caring Overview (Staff). REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND LICENSE:

+ High school diploma or GED preferred; additional work experience may be substituted in lieu of education



+ One (1) year experience in a medical office or healthcare setting required








PREFERRED EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND LICENSE:



+ Prior experience processing referrals


+ Proficiency with EMR system


+ Bilingual English/Spanish language skills are a definite plus
